Pramono signs waste-to-energy power plant development agreement with Danantara today
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that his administration will sign a cooperation agreement with Danantara for the development of two Waste-to-Energy (WtE) power plants in the capital today.
“Today, the Jakarta Provincial Government will sign a cooperation agreement with Danantara for two Waste-to-Energy power plant locations. One in Bantargebang and the other in Tunjungan, in Kamal Muara,” Pramono explained at Jakarta City Hall on Monday.
In addition to these two new projects, Jakarta has also planned the construction of a WtE plant in Sunter.
Pramono emphasised that this step is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s long-term commitment to providing a more modern and sustainable waste management solution.
“Thus, DKI Jakarta will have three Waste-to-Energy power plants, plus the RDF Rorotan which is currently operational,” Pramono said.
He hopes that with the establishment of these WtE plants, Jakarta’s waste issues will be well-handled.
Not only that, Pramono also stated that the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facility in Rorotan is currently operational. According to him, RDF is an important part of the integrated waste management system in the capital.
With the combination of WtE and RDF, he said the Jakarta Government is optimistic that the waste problem, which has long been a major challenge, can be addressed more effectively.
In addition to reducing waste volume, this project is also expected to provide added value in the form of environmentally friendly electricity energy.
