Pramono Signs Utility Network Regulation, Tangle of Cables in DKI to be Addressed Soon
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has assured that the tidying up of the chaotic cables in the capital will soon enter the implementation phase. He stated that the regional regulation (perda) regarding integrated utility network facilities (SJUT) has already been signed.
“So, SJUT for cable facilities that we have included in this, the regulation has been signed by me. And now we will start focusing and concentrating on putting the cables underground,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta DPRD on Monday (13/4/2026).
Pramono explained that converting overhead cables to underground ones is part of efforts to neaten the city’s appearance while improving safety. This is because many dangling cables are still found, posing risks to road users.
Nevertheless, Pramono reminded that the tidying process cannot be done instantly. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government needs time due to the extensive scope of work and involvement of many parties.
“This requires time; it can’t be done with a snap of the fingers for everything to be finished. However, the DKI Jakarta Government has a programme for it,” he said.
The DKI Provincial Government, continued Pramono, will prioritise areas with high vulnerability levels as well as densely active zones. He hopes that with the implementation of this regulation, the long-complained issue of chaotic cables by residents can gradually be resolved.
