Pramono Shares Work Culture at City Hall: Late Twice, Don't Join Meetings Anymore
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has underscored the importance of discipline and work culture within the City Hall environment. He even admitted to not hesitating to bar officials from attending meetings if they arrive late.
This was conveyed by Pramono while attending the BUMD Leaders Forum 2026 in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026). He exemplified how he has built a culture of punctuality in every meeting.
“I keep it simple: if someone is late, I observe once or twice, then after that I warn them not to join the meeting the next time,” said Pramono.
According to him, such firmness is necessary to shape a corporate culture or disciplined work ethic within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government environment. He stated that this change starts from the leadership.
Pramono said he always arrives early for every meeting. In doing so, he hopes that officials will follow this habit.
“I wasn’t sure if City Hall was on time before. Now, City Hall meetings are never more than five minutes late. Why? Because the Governor always arrives early,” he remarked.
Not only regarding punctuality, Pramono also emphasised the importance of setting a real example in working. One of them is through the policy of using public transportation every Wednesday. He admitted to consistently implementing this policy as part of efforts to build a work culture in the DKI Provincial Government environment.
“Up to today, I have never violated it. This isn’t about being seen by people, but building a work culture,” he explained.
Pramono hopes that with discipline and good communication, the performance of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government apparatus, including BUMDs, can become increasingly optimal in the future. He also stressed that every emerging issue should be communicated openly and resolved quickly.
“Our main problem is often the ego among officials, including BUMD officials, which is too big. Communication doesn’t run well,” he added.
