Pramono Seeks Danantara Support to Continue Jakarta LRT Development, Outlines Funding Needs
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has explained his reasons for requesting support from Danantara to continue the construction of the LRT network to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail (Whoosh) station at Halim. Pram, as he is affectionately known, stated that as the leader of Jakarta, he must prepare alternative financing options for the development of the Jakarta LRT. He previously mentioned that the funding for the LRT construction could involve the use of bonds.
“As the governor and leader of Jakarta, I must certainly have various alternative financing methods to complete the LRT in Jakarta,” Pramono said during a press conference following the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT at Manggarai LRT Station on Wednesday (16/09/2026).
He explained that the follow-up project for the Manggarai-Dukuh Atas LRT route requires approximately Rp 2.7 trillion and is scheduled to commence in 2027. According to him, while the funds are essentially available, various other alternative financing sources are still required.
“In essence, it could come from bonds, the Regional Budget (APBD), or also from Danantara,” Pramono stated.
In the future, the Jakarta LRT route will be expanded to include JIS and the Whoosh Halim Station. The construction of this route is expected to utilise funds from Danantara or bonds. Furthermore, he expressed his satisfaction that, in accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto during the event, the Jakarta Provincial Government will immediately proceed with the LRT route towards JIS and the Whoosh Halim Station.
“Once connected, the central part of the Jakarta LRT will effectively link the North, East, and South to the Central region,” Pramono added.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that Danantara Indonesia is obligated to assist the Jakarta Provincial Government in continuing the LRT development.
“I believe Danantara must assist, because Jakarta does not belong only to those living in Jakarta; Jakarta belongs to the entire nation,” Prabowo emphasised.
