Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B line connecting Velodrome to Manggarai is targeted for inauguration in August 2026. The Rp12.5 trillion project will have 11 stations and is subsequently planned to connect to the Dukuh Atas area to strengthen public transport integration in the capital. “The DKI Jakarta government has decided on the LRT from Velodrome to Manggarai, which will hopefully be inaugurated this August, with a total investment of Rp12.5 trillion and 11 stations, and we will connect it to Dukuh Atas,” Pramono said during the groundbreaking for the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck in Central Jakarta on Sunday (21/6). According to Pramono, the LRT line will reinforce Dukuh Atas’s position as one of Jakarta’s largest transport integration hubs. He explained that the Dukuh Atas area will eventually connect various mass transit modes, including the MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, Airport Rail Link, TransJakarta, and the KRL Commuter Line. “So Dukuh Atas will have the MRT, LRT operated by both the DKI Jakarta government and the central government, then the Airport Train, TransJakarta, and KCI. That makes six modes,” he said. Pramono believes the integration of these various modes is expected to ease public mobility and encourage the use of more comfortable public transport. “This shows that once everything is properly connected, I am confident Jakarta will become more comfortable and safer,” he remarked. The LRT Jakarta Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai line is a continuation of the LRT Jakarta development connecting East Jakarta with the Manggarai transport hub. Previously, state-owned construction firm PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, together with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), had commenced the testing and commissioning phase for the railway systems. One of the completed stages involved testing a 3.6-kilometre section linking Velodrome Station and Pramuka Station. Jakpro President Director Iwan Takwin previously explained that the testing and commissioning process is being carried out comprehensively to ensure all systems are ready before entering the commercial operational stage. The testing covers various components, from the rail track, signalling systems, electricity, and communications, to inter-system operational integration. “Every metre of the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B elevated track is our responsibility to the people of DKI Jakarta who will rely on the LRT daily. Therefore, this testing and commissioning phase must be prepared very thoroughly,” Iwan said in a written statement some time ago.
