Pramono Says Various Events in Jakarta Trigger Tourist Surge

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has stated that various events held in the capital have not only successfully boosted economic activity but also increased the number of tourists. “These various activities have succeeded in driving tourism economic activity and public consumption,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday. He noted that tourism indicators showed a significant increase, marked by domestic tourist trips reaching 8.82 million. Meanwhile, foreign tourist visits rose by 8.17 per cent to 1.04 million. He explained that Jakarta is now known not only as a business and government centre but also as a tourist city. “To maintain this momentum, the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to improve public transport services and supporting infrastructure that are increasingly better and integrated through the MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, and so on,” Pramono said. He expressed hope that once the Pegangsaan Dua-Manggarai LRT route is inaugurated, it could eventually serve around 80,000 passengers per day.
