Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said there were padel court operators negotiating to extend operating hours beyond 20:00 WIB. He emphasised that he would reject all such negotiations and that operating hours would remain limited to 20:00 WIB.

“I have heard that some still want to negotiate beyond eight o’clock in the evening. We will not permit it. The maximum is eight o’clock,” Pramono told reporters at the Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

The operating hours rule for padel courts applies especially to those located in the middle of residential areas. In addition to the operating hours, he said they require padel courts in residential areas to install noise-damping measures. Furthermore, the Jakarta Provincial Government has already prohibited padel courts from being built in housing estates to avoid disturbing residents’ daily lives.

For padel courts in residential areas that do not yet possess a PBG, Pramono explained that they can no longer process such matters. He also reiterated that padel courts lacking a PBG would have activities halted, with demolition and revocation of the business license.

For new padel court developments, owners must obtain initial technical approval from the Jakarta Department of Youth and Sports. He said this is to provide a reference so that not everyone wishing to build a padel court could simply build in Jakarta.

Additionally, the Jakarta government prohibits padel courts from being built on assets owned by the DKI Jakarta government and in Green Open Space (RTH). (Antara)
