Pramono says 'Love Lock Bridge' to be built over Cideng River

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the ‘Love Padlock’ Bridge will be constructed over the Cideng River in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta.

“As part of the redevelopment of Jalan Hajjah Rangkayo (HR) Rasuna Said, there is the Cideng River, and small bridges will be built over it,” Pramono said in Jakarta on Saturday.

He envisions three or four small bridge units at the location, featuring dedicated spaces for people to attach love padlocks.

“Couples will come there to attach their padlocks, and this will create a colourful atmosphere,” Pramono remarked.

He noted that the site also features the newly inaugurated Integrity Bus Stop, located in front of the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) Building.

“Jakarta residents will visit the area with their partners to place padlocks at the location,” Pramono added, reiterating that three to four bridges will eventually be built over the river.

Previously, Pramono expressed optimism that the newly completed and inaugurated Jalan HR Rasuna Said could become a new icon for Jakarta.

“I am confident this road will become a new landmark for Jakarta because everything now looks much more organised, neater, and even features specially planted orchids at the end,” said Pramono.

The 3.8-kilometre redevelopment of Jalan HR Rasuna Said includes pavement improvements, the removal of 109 monorail pillars, and adjustments to the elevation between the fast and slow lanes, with a total cost of approximately Rp91 billion.
