Pramono Says JIS Station Nearly Complete, Targeted to Operate in June

Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has confirmed that the completion of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) train station has entered its final phase. According to him, the station should be operational by mid-year, serving passengers. “For JIS, it is estimated to be completed in May and will operate in June,” Pramono stated at the Ancol Pumping Station in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4). In addition to completing the transport hub project in the JIS area, Pramono said that the expansion of the rail network is being finalised to ease traffic congestion in the capital city of Indonesia. The infrastructure expansion is designed to provide the public with more efficient travel alternatives from south to north Jakarta. “It’s not just the JIS KRL station. We are also discussing other matters, including the completion of the MRT, including Kota Tua, and the 16-kilometre electric route from Rawajati to Tanjung Priok,” Pramono said. “And that will significantly help with transportation convenience in Jakarta,” added the man who once served as Cabinet Secretary. As information, another comprehensive step being rushed by the DKI Provincial Government and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is to create seamless intermodal connectivity in the central business district. This integration will consist of high-passenger transit points in the heart of the capital that are unified to make switching between public transport modes much more practical. “Including matters at Dukuh Atas, as well as BNI City and Karet stations, which we will integrate soon,” Pramono emphasised. The enhancement and integration of public transport is one of the major tasks undertaken by the DKI Provincial Government under the leadership of the governor in recent years, including during Pramono’s era. One of the mainstays of the DKI Provincial Government in providing integrated public transport for residents is Transjakarta, along with its supporters such as Minitrans and Jaklingko. Transjakarta is also being developed to reach the supporting areas of DKI through cooperation with local governments. In addition, for rail transport, there is the Integrated Rapid Transit (MRT), Integrated Light Rail Transit (LRT), and KRL Jabodetabek, which is part of cooperation with the central government through PT KAI.
