Pramono says Jakarta's SJUT cable arrangement is complex, cannot be done simultaneously

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has said that the arrangement of electricity cables under the Integrated Utility Network Facility (SJUT) in Jakarta is quite complex, meaning it cannot be resolved quickly and simultaneously. “Some have already started, but it cannot all be done at the same time, because the cable problem is so numerous and complex,” Pramono said at City Hall on Wednesday. Despite this, the man familiarly known as Pram assured that his administration will soon begin tidying up the chaotic cables in Jakarta. He also stated that he has signed a regional regulation on cable arrangement in the capital. With the existence of this bylaw, the cable arrangement in Jakarta will automatically be carried out. “Since the existence of the SJUT regional regulation, which regulates cables in Jakarta, we will start immediately,” Pramono revealed. Previously, he said the cables could not be placed underground because there was no legal framework. “With the regional regulation that I have signed and which has been promulgated, hopefully the handling of the cables can be managed better,” Pramono said. Moreover, he added, there are currently several private companies or entities ready to cooperate with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to handle the capital’s cables. He acknowledged that chaotic cables are one of the city’s most complex problems. “So, Jakarta, which is so complex and so large, has a main problem: many cables are actually no longer in use, but the owners do not know because it has been so long,” Pramono explained.
