Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is pleased with the progress of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A construction along the North-South route. This is because the project is being carried out by Indonesian labour.

Pramono shared this after accompanying Gibran on an inspection of the MRT Phase 2A project in the Harmoni area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Pramono said the Vice President expressed satisfaction with the development of the MRT Phase 2A.

According to him, the Vice President has inspected the project several times, allowing him to directly observe the progress.

“Overall, he expressed joy and satisfaction because he had seen it before. The progress is quite good, and the tunnel is particularly neat,” said Pramono.

According to Pramono, one aspect that caught the Vice President’s attention was the involvement of local labour in the strategic project. He mentioned that all the workers involved are Indonesian sons and daughters.

“Once again, everything is being done by Indonesian sons and daughters. This shows that we are indeed capable of it,” he said.

Pramono revealed that around 3,800 workers are involved in the MRT Phase 2A construction. He noted that all the labour is Indonesian citizens trusted to handle the major infrastructure project.

“What is encouraging is that the 3,800 people working there are all Indonesians, thus proving that our best sons and daughters, if given the opportunity, can deliver extraordinary results,” he stated.

Nevertheless, Pramono reminded that construction quality must remain the top priority. He hopes the MRT Phase 2A project continues to progress according to target until it eventually becomes operational.

“The most important thing is that the quality must be maintained,” he added.
