Pramono Says Affluent Families Not a Priority for Jakarta Elderly Card

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has affirmed that the Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ) remains available for residents who meet the requirements. However, he stated that elderly residents from affluent families are not a priority for receiving the assistance.

This was conveyed by Pramono after attending the 30th National Elderly Day commemoration in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

“Regarding the Elderly Card, it remains open to this day. There are indeed prerequisites that must be fulfilled,” Pramono said.

Pramono stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government will prioritise the provision of the Elderly Card to residents who genuinely need social assistance.

“Some elderly people who, pardon me, are well-off, whose families are capable and support them, naturally, I apologise, cannot yet receive the Elderly Card. But those in need will be our priority,” he said.

On the same occasion, Pramono revealed that to date, the Jakarta Elderly Card has been distributed to approximately over 168,000 recipients.

“I received the latest report that elderly people in DKI Jakarta have used the Elderly Card, approximately 168,497 elderly,” he stated.

Pramono also encouraged eligible elderly people who have not yet registered as recipients to promptly apply for the Elderly Card in order to obtain assistance from the Jakarta Provincial Government.

In addition to social assistance through the Elderly Card, the Jakarta Provincial Government provides various facilities for elderly residents, ranging from free public transport services and access to health services at government-owned hospitals and community health centres, to the Elderly School programme, which currently has 78 schools with 2,278 participants.
