Pramono Reveals Why SDN 01 Cipete Construction Remains Unfinished
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has revealed the reason why the construction of Sekolah Dasar 01 Cipete remains incomplete. He stated that the school construction underwent a change in project concept midway.
“The main problem at SDN 1 Cipete is that at the beginning of the planning, it was for a four-storey school. Then, along the way, it changed to mixed-use,” Pramono told reporters in South Jakarta on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
He continued that midway, the construction was then designated to be built upwards to around 20 storeys. “And along the way, it went back and forth, back and forth, and did not materialise, resulting in abandoned construction,” he added.
The Governor of DKI stated that he had summoned the Head of the Education Agency and related officials for discussions. He requested that the completion of this stalled school construction be finalised immediately. “For the mixed-use matters later, but the most important thing is that the school is completed soon and can be used immediately,” he said. However, Pramono could not yet confirm when the school would be finished, saying, “Regarding the timeline, I will answer once it is finalised.”
The SDN Cipete Utara 01 building, located in the Kebayoran Baru area of South Jakarta, was originally targeted for completion within six months. To date, the construction has not been completed even though the project has been underway for almost a year.
On a separate occasion, the Education Sub-agency for Region II of South Jakarta stated that the construction of the SDN Cipete Utara 01 building is targeted for completion in September 2026. “The plan is to finish in September,” said Sarwoko, Head of the Education Sub-agency for Region II of South Jakarta, when contacted in Jakarta, as quoted from Antara on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
Meanwhile, he confirmed that teaching and learning activities are continuing even though construction is still ongoing. It is known that the students are conducting teaching and learning activities at SD BaPem. “Yes, that’s right, teaching and learning activities are still ongoing,” said Sarwoko.
