Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has commended the performance of Transjakarta for providing a substantial contribution to Jakarta’s economy, amounting to Rp73.8 trillion. To date, Transjakarta services are known to accommodate around 1.4 million passengers every day.

“With this achievement, Transjakarta has provided an extraordinary contribution to Jakarta’s transportation system. In fact, based on Time Out 2025 data, Jakarta ranks 17th in the world for the best infrastructure and second in Asia after Singapore,” Pramono stated while attending the 12th anniversary commemoration of PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) at the Transjakarta Tosari Stop, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Friday (27/3/2026).

According to him, investment in the transportation sector through Transjakarta has also brought significant economic impacts. He mentioned that every Rp1 trillion in investment can generate an economic impact of around Rp3.2 trillion.

“This momentum must be maintained. The larger Transjakarta becomes, the higher public expectations will be,” Pramono said.

Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of maintaining service quality amid increasing public needs, thus requiring full support for efforts to improve operational discipline and service safety.

“We support firm enforcement, including sanctions against negligent operators and drivers. I have also asked the President Director of Transjakarta to take firm steps in every violation,” Pramono asserted.

On the same occasion, DPRD Jakarta Chairman Khoirudin expressed support for strengthening public transportation services through the allocation of Public Service Obligation (PSO) funds amounting to Rp4.8 trillion, or about 5.99 percent of the total Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

“Every Rp1 trillion in PSO generates an economic impact of around Rp3.2 trillion. This is a form of the government’s return to the public for their tax contributions, which we repay in the form of public transportation services,” Khoirudin explained.

He also assessed that transportation is one of the largest household expenditure components. Therefore, the presence of affordable and quality public services is expected to provide real benefits to the community.
