Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung has revealed that the circulation of money during the 499th anniversary celebrations of Jakarta reached Rp 2.4 trillion. According to him, the majority of these transactions were conducted digitally using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS). “Yesterday, when we held the anniversary, I received the latest data that transactions on that day reached Rp 2.4 trillion,” Pramono said while opening the Jakarta Kreatif Festival (JKF) 2026 at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta, Saturday (4/7/2026). Pramono stated that this achievement indicates that the policies implemented by the Jakarta Provincial Government are capable of driving the community’s economy. One such policy was providing free public transport and free entry to city-managed tourist destinations during the anniversary. He noted that the number of visitors to several tourist destinations broke records. In Ancol, the number of visitors reached 80,000 people in a single day, far exceeding the previous record of around 30,000 to 32,000 visitors. “Ancol’s highest transactions previously were only around 30,000 to 32,000. The day before yesterday, on the 28th, Ancol broke a record, with 80,000 people attending and entering. And the transactions, the net profit which used to be a maximum of Rp 1.5 billion, on 28 June transactions reached Rp 6.5 billion,” he said. Pramono also mentioned that Ragunan Wildlife Park recorded a new record with 135,500 visitors in one day. “Ragunan’s peak visitor numbers previously were around 102,000 people. The day before yesterday, Ragunan broke a record, on 28 June, the number of visitors to Ragunan was 135,500. And transactions were much higher, and almost all used QRIS,” he said. According to Pramono, the high usage of QRIS is in line with the rapid digitalisation of transactions in Jakarta. Currently, Jakarta accounts for around 38 percent of national QRIS transactions, the highest compared to other regions. “QRIS transactions in Jakarta now account for 38 percent of national transactions. And this is thanks to the cooperation between Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and all markets in Jakarta,” he said. Pramono stated that this success has led the Jakarta Provincial Government to plan to again provide free public transport and free entry to several tourist spots during the celebration of Jakarta’s 500th anniversary in 2027. “I have decided that Jakarta will give a special gift to all Indonesian citizens. For five consecutive days, from 22 to 27 June, transportation in Jakarta will be free for Rp 1. All places currently managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government will also be free of charge,” Pramono said. Meanwhile, Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for Jakarta Province, Iwan Setiawan, said that payment digitalisation is one of the main focuses in organising JKF 2026. According to him, expanding the use of QRIS is part of efforts to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem in Jakarta. Iwan said that Jakarta has a strategic role in the national economy because it contributes 16.67 percent to Indonesia’s economic growth. Therefore, maintaining economic stability in Jakarta means also maintaining the national economy. “Jakarta is the key. 16.67 percent of Indonesia’s economic growth is contributed by Jakarta. About one-fifth of national inflation depends on price stability in Jakarta. Thus, safeguarding Jakarta means safeguarding Indonesia,” Iwan said.
