Pramono Reveals Series of Plans for Jakarta at 499th Anniversary
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced a number of changes to be implemented in the capital during the 499th anniversary celebrations of Jakarta. He stated that public transport services will continue to be strengthened, including the provision of free transport facilities for 15 community groups. “Transport to anywhere, because indeed for 15 groups of Jakarta residents, transport is now free and we always want to provide the best service for transportation,” he said during the Jakarta 499th Anniversary celebration at the HI Roundabout, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (27/6).
In addition to transport, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also constructing a waste-to-energy power plant in Bantar Gebang, Tanjungan Kamal Muara, and Sunter to address the city’s waste problems. “Hopefully, Jakarta’s waste issues in the future will not be like they are now, they will become better,” he said.
Pramono also stated that flood control is being pursued through the continuation of river normalisation programmes. “I am continuing the normalisation of rivers that were previously not continued. The normalisation of the Ciliwung, Krukut Lama, and Cakung rivers. Hopefully, even though floods still occur in Jakarta, they will not be like before,” he explained.
In the transport sector, Pramono revealed that the Grand Hyatt, Pullman, Mandarin, and Kempinski areas will be connected via an underground pathway integrated with the MRT. This will allow people to access the MRT without crossing at street level. He also noted that the Jakarta Provincial Government is completing projects from previous administrations. “I am continuing things that were not completed by previous governments or previous governors,” he said, citing the completed arrangement of the Rasuna Said area and improved connectivity to Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), which is now served by the KRL commuter line. “JIS now has a KRL connection. We have now connected JIS to Ancol. So later, when Jakmania supporters want to watch a match, it will be easier,” he added.
Furthermore, Pramono confirmed that the construction of Sumber Waras Hospital, which had been delayed for a long time, will soon begin after the legal issues were resolved. “The last thing we will do soon is Sumber Waras Hospital, which was previously in limbo for a long time. Alhamdulillah, it will be built soon because the resolution of its legal issues is complete,” he stated.
