Pramono Reveals Direct Flight Route from Kelantan to Jakarta to Open on 16 June 2026
Pramono made the statement after receiving a visit from the Chief Minister of Kelantan, Dato’ Panglima Perang Ustaz Dato’ Hj Mohd Nassuruddin bin Hj Daud, at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (13/5/2026). “Currently, Jakarta is experiencing a significant increase in flights from Malaysia, both from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and others, including Kelantan. This will open a new flight on 16 June from Kelantan to Jakarta,” Pramono said. Pramono noted that Jakarta is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Malaysians. According to him, in addition to easier transport access, Jakarta also offers many tourism and shopping options. “Why is this being done? Because the choices for Malaysians to holiday in Jakarta are becoming more numerous. They can go to Bandung on the Whoosh train, they can shop at Thamrin City, at Pacific Place with prices that are now relatively cheaper compared to shopping elsewhere or in other countries,” he stated. Pramono also assessed that the ease of transportation and halal cuisine are particular attractions for Malaysian tourists coming to Jakarta. “Then the transportation is also easier, food is easier to find, and most of them look for halal restaurants. There are now many halal restaurants in Jakarta, almost on every corner,” he added. He even mentioned that the similarity in taste preferences between Malaysian and Jakarta people is an added value. “For Malaysian palates and Jakarta people’s palates, there’s no difference, especially when it comes to rendang,” he continued. Pramono revealed that the increase in Malaysian tourists to Jakarta is already evident, including during car-free day (CFD) events. “That’s what causes so many Malaysians to come to Jakarta now, even for car-free day, if you check, the participants now are significantly increasing from Malaysia, especially from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and so on,” he explained. In the meeting, Pramono and the Kelantan Government also discussed other cooperation opportunities, from investment, education, culture, to the development of ancient Malay manuscripts between Jakarta and Kelantan. Meanwhile, Kelantan’s Chief Minister Dato’ Hj Mohd Nassuruddin bin Hj Daud said the direct flight from Kota Bharu, Kelantan to Jakarta will officially open starting 16 June. “We came here to promote the state of Kelantan because starting from 16 June, there will be a direct flight from Kelantan, Malaysia to Jakarta, Jakarta to Kota Bharu, Kelantan,” Nassuruddin stated.
