Pramono Responds to West Jakarta Mayor Being Sued by Residents Over Crematorium Permit
JAKARTA — Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has responded to a lawsuit by residents against West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah concerning the issuing of the permit for the Swarga Abadi Funeral Home and Crematorium in Kalideres. Pramono said the legal process that has been underway should be respected and left to the judiciary. ‘Let the legal process run its course,’ Pramono said when he was seen in the Srengseng Sawah area, South Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026.
The suit was filed at the Jakarta Administrative Court (PTUN Jakarta) because residents consider the permit issuance violates provisions of the local regulation. Coordinator of the Warga Citra Garden 2, Budiman Tandiono, confirmed that the suit with docket number 83/G/2026/PTUN JKT has been registered and addressed to the leadership of Jakarta Barat City Government. ‘The defendant is Mrs. West Jakarta Administrative Mayor, represented by the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Services Unit (PM-PTSP) of West Jakarta City,’ Budiman told Kompas.com on Thursday (5 March 2026).
Budiman explained that the legal basis refers to Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2007 on Burial, particularly Article 7(a) which prohibits crematorium construction in densely populated residential areas. ‘Yes, the suit concerns the PBG. Because issuing the PBG and the construction violate regulations, violate the Perda, which says not to build in the middle of densely populated housing,’ Budiman said.
Budiman added that the parties had received the summons for the first hearing scheduled for Wednesday (11 March 2026) at PTUN Jakarta.
