Pramono Responds Calmly to Resident's Protest Regarding Livestock Land Development in Banten
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and Banten Governor Andra Soni inspected a 100-hectare site in Banten intended for livestock development. During the inspection, a local resident voiced a protest against the ongoing construction.
The inspection took’place on Friday (31/07/2026) in Ciangir, Legok, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The incident occurred while Pramono was conducting a press conference regarding the development project.
A resident named Mahroni interrupted the journalists’ questions to Pramono and Andra Soni, firmly protesting the development on the land. He stated that large vehicles frequently pass through the area, causing nearby houses to be covered in dust and suffer structural cracks. He requested that Pramono and Andra Soni personally inspect the homes of the local residents.
“Governor of Jakarta, there is currently the development of cattle farming and water infrastructure here. As residents of Ciangir Village, we request that you inspect the houses of my neighbours and myself, as the large vehicles passing through are causing issues,” Mahroni stated firmly.
“Firstly, my house is covered in dust, and secondly, it is developing cracks. I ask your team to review the houses that are cracked and dusty. Please re-evaluate this, Sir,” he added.
“Alright, Sir, what is your name?” Pramono asked.
“Mahroni, Sir,” he replied.
Pramono responded by stating that the Regent would represent him in checking Mahroni’s home. “Mr Mahroni, let me answer you directly. I am instructing Dharma Jaya as well as the relevant departments to check your location. I will request that the Vice Regent accompanies the inspection to see the situation firsthand,” Pramono said, adding a lighthearted remark to ease the tension.
“If you repair or renovate the cracks, Sir, I will smile,” Mahroni replied. “The issue is that my house is cracking because it is very close to the road. That is why I am being bold; I might not have dared to say this through the neighbourhood head (RT), so I am addressing you directly.”
Following the exchange, Andra Soni stated that the development represents a good intention from the Jakarta Provincial Government, noting that much of the unused land in Banten remains unutilised. “Mr Mahroni, God willing, the intention brought by the Jakarta Government is good. There is much idle land in Banten that is not being used. Jakarta has the intention to develop businesses under their regional-owned enterprise (BUMD), Dharma Jaya,” said Andra Soni.
He expressed confidence that the land development would benefit the local community and promised that authorities would investigate the reported cracks and dust issues. “I am certain that the benefits of this will be felt by the surrounding community. Regarding what you have raised, the Governor and I will ensure it is addressed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” he concluded.
