Pramono Requests Restrictions on Fireworks at Night

The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, has requested city mayors to restrict the use of firecrackers or fireworks, particularly during the night in the capital’s residential areas.

He made this statement in response to recent disturbances caused by the use of firecrackers during a Maulid Nabi event in South Jakarta, which continued until the early hours of the morning.

“I happened to follow the event as it occurred. It was around 12:30 am. At approximately 2:00 am, I read about it, and subsequently, I asked the Jakarta Provincial Government officials to take action,” Pramono said when met in the TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta, on Monday (5/10/2026).

According to Pramono, it is inappropriate to light fireworks or firecrackers late at night, as this can disturb the rest periods of local residents.

Consequently, he has asked the mayors to ensure that residents limit the timing of fireworks and firecracker usage moving forward.
