Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has inaugurated an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) shelter on Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, resulting from cooperation between the government and ride-hailing app operators. He stated the shelter is intended to create a more orderly situation.

“The purpose of establishing this shelter is to improve order and make it easier for road users,” Pramono said in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7/2026).

He expressed hope that similar shelters would be added. Pramono has asked the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) to identify locations requiring such facilities.

“I really hope that places or shelters like this are not only here, but also in other locations, and that they are well maintained. I will ask the Head of the Transportation Agency, if it can be done in other areas, other places like this, it would be better,” he said.

Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, said the number of shelters will be increased. He said the Jakarta Provincial Government is collaborating with property developers, business operators, and shopping centre managers to determine shelter locations.

“We will increase the number of shelter points. We have also made commitments with property associations, business associations, and malls. We will determine which points to build shelters at,” Budi said.

He mentioned that ride-hailing app operators are also involved in building the ojol shelters. He noted that the Jakarta Transportation Agency has started constructing a shelter at Pulogebang Terminal.

“Eventually, all terminals will have shelters. We are currently matching data, and we will find a match between the app operators and building owners in each region,” he said.

Budi said the shelters can be used free of charge by drivers and operate 24 hours a day. He also stated that the agency will cooperate with KAI to create an ojol shelter around Palmerah Station.

“We will also cooperate with the railway company to arrange this, especially later at Palmerah,” he said.
