Pramono Requests LRT Extension, Prabowo Orders Danantara to Provide Mandatory Support

President Prabowo Subiandum has made it mandatory for the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Agency (Danantara) to assist in the development of public transportation in Jakarta. This statement was made by Prabowo in response to a request from the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung.

“And there was a small hope from the Governor that Danantara would participate in helping. I believe Danantara is obliged to help. Because Jakarta does not only belong to those living in Jakarta; Jakarta belongs to the entire nation,” said Prabowo during his speech at the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading—Manggarai LRT route at Manggarai LRT Station, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

Prabowo admitted to enjoying the journey using this mode of public transport. Alongside Pramono and several members of the Red and White Cabinet, Prabowo travelled via LRT from Kelapa Gading Station, North Jakarta, to Manggarai LRT Station.

“Taking the LRT is pleasant, it is extraordinary,” said Prabowo.

Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his appreciation to President Prabowo for participating in the inauguration of the LRT route.

“Once again, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the President for his willingness to inaugurate this LRT from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai,” said Pramono.

Pramono also shared the Jakarta Provincial Government’s plans to continue the development of the LRT network towards the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) area. Furthermore, the LRT development is aimed at strengthening connectivity to the Whoosh high-speed rail service located in eastern Jakarta.

“What is also encouraging is that we will extend this LRT from Kelapa Gading to JIS, and from Velodrome to the Whoosh high-speed train,” he added.

To realise these plans, Pramono directly requested President Prabowo to task Danantara to assist in the financing and construction of Jakarta’s public transport.

“Mr President, it would be even more encouraging if you were to task Danantara to also assist us, Sir,” said Pramono.
