Pramono Removes Kalisari Village Head and Two Section Chiefs Following AI Photo Retaliation Report in JAKI
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has relieved several officials in the Kalisari area, East Jakarta, following the upload of an AI-based photo report in the JAKI application. Pramono stressed that the removal from positions is not a dismissal but part of disciplinary measures.
“Relieved from duty means from the position they currently hold. Coincidentally, in Kalisari, we are relieving our village head from her position as village head for disciplinary purposes,” said Pramono at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
In addition to the village head, other officials relieved include the head of the economic development section and the head of the government section. This policy was taken after the case of uploading photos deemed inconsistent with field conditions, which stained the face of public services in Jakarta.
“Indeed, that truly tarnishes the image of Jakarta and us; as governor, I do not want it to happen again,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Pramono emphasised that he does not wish to end the careers of the civil servants involved. He assured that they will still be trained to work better in the future.
“But I also do not want to eliminate someone’s career. After being trained to improve, we will give them the opportunity to perform better,” he said.
This case emerged after suspicions of work report manipulation through uploads of before-and-after photos in the JAKI application that did not reflect actual conditions. This has triggered a comprehensive evaluation of the performance reporting system, particularly in the PPSU ranks.
Pramono described the incident as an important lesson for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to improve governance and supervision systems to be more transparent and accountable.
“There is no room for it to be repeated. We will improve the system and governance to be better, transparent, and open,” he asserted.
Pramono also emphasised the importance of integrity in working, especially for field officers who are the spearhead of public services at the sub-district level.
In the future, the DKI Provincial Government will tighten reporting mechanisms, including who is authorised to upload work documentation, to prevent similar manipulations from recurring.
“Those who are authorised to upload are the ones who may upload. That’s why the system is being improved,” he concluded.
