Jakarta — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has cautioned residents against sleeping in Bendera Pusaka Park, despite the facility being open 24 hours.

“This park is for shared public use, not a place for sleeping. So if residents are sleeping around and so forth, security will certainly remind them,” Pramono stated when encountered at Bendera Pusaka Park in South Jakarta on Saturday.

In addition to being guarded by security personnel, the park is equipped with 127 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to ensure the facility remains safe from various criminal activities.

Bendera Pusaka Park was officially inaugurated on Saturday afternoon. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Indonesia’s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Beyond the park’s inauguration, Pramono also officially unveiled a statue of Fatmawati, which stands in the centre of the park. Despite already being inaugurated, Bendera Pusaka Park will open to the public beginning Sunday (15 March).

Earlier, Pramono explained that the construction of Bendera Pusaka Park in South Jakarta, which cost 100 billion rupiah, did not utilise the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). Pramono revealed that the funding for constructing the park was obtained through building public trust.

All matters relating to building floor coefficient (KLB), functional fitness certificates (SLF) and land clearance approval letters (SP3L) will be managed transparently. Consequently, he is confident that this approach attracted community members and various stakeholders to jointly develop Jakarta.
