Pramono Remembers Try Sutrisno as a Figure Who Embraced Everyone
Jakarta — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has remembered Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, who passed away on Monday morning, as a figure who embraced all people.
“To Allah we belong and to Him we will return. As someone who knew Pak Try Sutrisno closely for a long time, I naturally feel a great loss, because he was a father figure of the nation who embraced everyone,” said Pramono after paying his respects at the residence in mourning on Monday.
He revealed that he had known Try Sutrisno since 1995. According to Pramono, Try Sutrisno also had a close personal relationship with Indonesia’s fifth President, Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Pramono recounted often holding discussions with Megawati and Try Sutrisno. For this reason, Pramono said he deeply felt the loss of Try Sutrisno’s passing.
Furthermore, Pramono stated that the last time he met with Try was six months ago. According to him, Try’s health had begun to decline.
However, despite his declining health, Pramono said Try’s spirit never diminished as he approached his 90th year of age.
“He remained active in the Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP). When it comes to matters of Pancasila and our constitution, he always held them firm. That is what distinguished Pak Try Sutrisno from other figures — for him, matters of the constitution were something profound and inherent in his life,” Pramono said.
As is known, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno passed away at Gatot Soebroto Central Armed Forces Hospital (RSPAD) in Jakarta on Monday morning at approximately 07:00 Western Indonesia Time.
The news of Try Sutrisno’s passing was conveyed through a chain message sent on behalf of the family and the Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP), and was confirmed by several officials from the State Secretariat Ministry and the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres).
In the message, the body of the sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno would be ritually washed at RSPAD, then transferred to the residence in mourning at Jalan Purwakarta Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
“Please forgive all mistakes and lapses of the late during his lifetime. May the deeds of the late be accepted by Allah the Almighty. We humbly ask for prayers from all of you so that the late may be granted the best place in His presence. Amen, Amen, Amen,” read the chain message from the family announcing the passing of sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno.
