Pramono Releases 744 Free Homecoming Buses for Eid, Joined by 34,000 Residents
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung released 744 free homecoming buses for Eid al-Fitr at the National Monument in Central Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government’s free homecoming programme was joined by 34,000 passengers.
This year’s free homecoming initiative carried the theme “Free Homecoming from Jakarta for Families,” launched at the National Monument in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. Pramono stated that the programme aims to enable Jakarta residents to return to their hometowns safely, comfortably, and affordably.
“Nevertheless, Jakarta Provincial Government’s main theme for welcoming Eid al-Fitr this year is ‘Homecoming to Jakarta,’” Pramono said in his remarks.
He noted that residents who do not return to their hometowns can still maintain family ties through video calls. The Jakarta Provincial Government has also prepared various services for residents celebrating Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta.
“These include Eid transportation, which will be managed and provided free of charge by Jakarta Provincial Government. This covers MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, Mikrotrans, JakLingko, and others,” he explained.
Pramono expressed gratitude that this year’s free homecoming programme saw a significant increase to 34,000 participants and 744 buses heading to six provinces. This number is higher than the previous year.
“Praise be to God, this year’s free homecoming programme has experienced a significant increase. Approximately 34,000 participants, 744 buses heading to 20 cities across six provinces. This represents a 34 per cent increase compared to last year,” he said.
“This demonstrates that Jakarta Provincial Government, together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum and supported by the Jakarta Provincial Legislative Council, state-owned enterprises, and Islamic charitable organisations, has successfully implemented this programme,” he added.
