Pramono rejects talks to extend padel court operating hours beyond 8:00 pm WIB
The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, has rejected negotiations by padel court owners that would extend operating hours beyond 8:00 PM WIB. ‘I have heard there are still those who want to negotiate beyond eight o’clock in the evening. We will not permit it. The maximum is eight o’clock,’ Pramono said at City Hall on Wednesday. The operating-hour rule applies particularly to padel courts located in residential areas. It is understood that some padel courts in residential areas already have Building Approval (PBG). However, moving forward, the Jakarta Government will not allow padel courts to be built in housing estates to avoid disturbing local residents. For padel courts in residential areas that do not yet have a PBG, Pramono explained, the matter cannot be processed any further. For construction of new padel courts, Pramono stressed that owners must obtain initial technical clearance from the Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Jakarta). He said this is intended to provide a reference so that not every person who wants to build a padel court can do so in Jakarta. Additionally, the Jakarta Government also prohibits padel courts from being built on assets owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government and in Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH).
