Pramono Rejects Negotiations to Operate Residential Padel Courts After 8 p.m.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that there is no room for negotiation for residential padel courts that want to operate beyond the set limit of 20:00 WIB, even if they already hold a Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung (PBG).
‘For residential padel facilities, even if they already have a PBG, I have heard that some still wish to negotiate beyond 8 p.m.; we will not allow it. The maximum is 8 p.m.,’ Pramono said at City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3).
In addition to ensuring the operating-hour restrictions to maintain the tranquillity of nearby residents, Pramono also highlighted the legality of each sports facility that has become popular among the public.
Pramono requires all padel facility sites in the capital to hold a business licence before offering their services to the public.
He stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will not hesitate to impose uncompromising sanctions on parties that continue to operate without lawful basis.
‘Thus, for padel in Jakarta, everyone must be licensed and have a PBG. For all padel facilities that commit violations and do not have a PBG, we will take firm action,’ Pramono asserted.
Previously, Pramono had already limited the operating hours of padel courts in housing zones to a maximum of 20:00 WIB. Padel courts located in housing zones must hold a PBG. Pramono has also asked mayors down to sub-district heads to negotiate with residents.
Pramono also stated that if padel courts in housing zones generate noise, the operators must make the courts soundproof.
