Pramono Rebukes DKI Officials over JAKI Report: Do Not Deceive Residents with AI

JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has asked his subordinates not to deceive residents by manipulating reports using artificial intelligence (AI) technology related to illegal parking through the JAKI app in East Jakarta.

According to Pramono, it is better to admit that a task is unfinished than to cover it up with AI manipulation that ultimately deceives the public.

“It is better, for example, if it is not finished, just say it is not finished rather than doing it with AI, which essentially is deceiving,” Pramono said when met in the Central Jakarta area on Monday (6/4/2026).

“I have already asked the Inspectorate to examine whether it was the sub-district head in Kalisari or the relevant department head,” Pramono stated.

He emphasised that anyone proven guilty must be sanctioned.

According to him, transparency is the main principle in government administration that must not be violated.

“Whoever is at fault must be punished. And this must not happen again, because for the Jakarta government, transparency is an important matter,” Pramono said.

Previously, a netizen complained about illegal parking on residential streets in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

Residents even reported it through the JAKI app. However, the report was said to remain unresolved.

The complainant also claimed to have received follow-up evidence that was suspected to have been manipulated using AI.

“How to handle the illegal parking issue on the sub-district road? Residents protesting directly to the perpetrators did not succeed, reporting to the sub-district level did not resolve it, trying to report via JAKI but given fake evidence from AI editing,” the post read.

Head of the Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) Budi Awaluddin admitted there was an error in validating the follow-up to the complaint.

“The Government Bureau acknowledges there was an error in the validation process. So far, no evidence of complaint follow-up using AI-generated photos has been found,” Budi said in his statement on Sunday (5/4/2026).

On average, around 20,857 complaints are handled each month. Diskominfotik will examine follow-up evidence for reports suspected of using AI technology.

In addition, administrative steps will be taken by issuing a warning letter to Kalisari Sub-district, which is suspected of being involved in this case.
