However, Pramono stressed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to provide support if assigned the task. This was stated by Pramono when asked about level railway crossings that remain unguarded at several points in Jakarta.

“As we all know, the railway tracks are indeed the responsibility or authority of KAI. Therefore, if the DKI Jakarta Government is subsequently given an assignment, we will gladly provide support to KAI,” Pramono replied in the Daan Mogot area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (2/5/2026).

Pramono emphasised that the Provincial Government will not stand idly by if collaboration is needed to improve safety at level crossings. According to him, inter-agency cooperation is crucial to minimise the risk of accidents.

He also opened the possibility of further coordination between the DKI Provincial Government and KAI to find the best solutions, especially at high-risk points that are not yet equipped with guards or automatic gates.

“We are ready to provide support if needed,” he said.

The issue of safety at level crossings has once again come under scrutiny following the discovery of several unguarded points, which are considered to pose a danger to road users. This is also reflected in the incident involving the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train colliding with a stationary KRL at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night (27/4). The incident began with a taxi getting stuck on the KRL at a crossing not far from Bekasi Timur Station.

The taxi getting stuck on the KRL caused the KRL at Bekasi Station to wait. The KA Argo Bromo Anggrek then arrived and collided from behind.

To date, the total death toll from the accident is 15 people. In addition, dozens of people were injured.

“Yes, 15 dead,” said the Head of Health Services of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Martinus Ginting, at Bhayangkara Hospital Level I Pusdokkes Polri (RS Polri), Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4).
