Pramono: Public Facilities Damaged During Protest Limited to Only One or Two Locations

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has ensured that public facilities in Jakarta generally continued to function well during the recent protest actions. While damage was discovered at several points, the scale was deemed insignificant.

He stated that his office is still investigating the damage to public facilities, including CCTV cameras and bus stops affected by the protests. One of the locations currently under inspection is in the Pejompongan area.

“Overall, during the demonstrations yesterday, almost all of our public facilities operated well,” Pramono said in South Jakarta on Monday (31/8).

He denied any attempts to disable CCTV cameras during the protests. According to him, the entire monitoring system remained operational, and the Jakarta Provincial Government possesses data regarding the condition of the facilities and field monitoring. “Therefore, it is untrue that there were attempts to turn off CCTVs and so on, because everything is monitored and we have the data for that,” he emphasised.

He added that while damage to public facilities did occur, it was only found at one or two locations. His office is still conducting further investigations to determine the exact nature of the damage and the necessary remedial steps. “So, once again, there were only one or two points, but overall, everything proceeded well,” he said.
