Pramono Proud of Jakarta's 5.52% Economic Growth Amid Global Pressures
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has welcomed the achievement of Jakarta’s economic growth, which reached 5.52 percent. The figure is higher than the national economic growth rate, recorded at 5.29 percent.
Pramono said the achievement showed that Jakarta’s economy remains resilient even as the world faces various pressures stemming from geopolitical conditions and a global economic slowdown.
“The economic growth figures for Jakarta have just been released, and Jakarta grew 5.52 percent, above the national economic growth of 5.29 percent,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (5/8/2026).
According to Pramono, Jakarta’s contribution to the national economy is also substantial. He noted that Jakarta’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) reached Rp 1,050.02 trillion out of a total national GDP of Rp 6,552 trillion.
“What is clearly significant is that Jakarta’s contribution to the GRDP amounts to Rp 1,050.02 trillion of the Rp 6,552 trillion national GDP,” he said.
Pramono regarded the achievement as proof that economic activity in the capital continues to grow amid a global situation full of uncertainty.
“This shows that Jakarta’s economic growth is being maintained while geopolitical pressures are occurring, as seen from the various wars around the world and the state of global economic stability, which is not in good shape,” he said.
For that reason, Pramono emphasised that the DKI provincial government will continue its efforts to safeguard Jakarta’s stability so that the investment climate and economic activity remain conducive.
“That is why on this occasion I want to say that I truly intend to keep Jakarta safe and comfortable, and I am optimistic about what we have been nurturing together,” he said.
He expressed hope that both Jakarta’s and the national economic growth can be sustained even as global challenges continue to loom.
“Hopefully, national growth and Jakarta’s growth can maintain their momentum given the current state of the world. A national growth rate of 5.29 percent is also quite good,” he concluded.
