Pramono Promises Free TransJ and Ancol Access for Five Days During Jakarta's 500th Anniversary

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has pledged to provide free public transport and access to tourist attractions under the Jakarta Provincial Government’s authority for five days during the celebration of Jakarta’s 500th anniversary. The programme will take place next year.

This was conveyed by Pramono at the closing of a mass circumcision event with PAM Jaya at DKI Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (8/7/2026). According to him, the policy is a gift from the DKI Provincial Government to the public for the 500th anniversary of Jakarta.

“Next year, DKI Jakarta welcomes its 5th century. I have decided that for anyone who is an Indonesian citizen, not just Jakarta residents, who is in Jakarta for five days, from 22 to 27 (June 2027), transport will be free, Rp 1. All citizens, not just Jakarta residents,” said Pramono.

The DKI Provincial Government will provide free access to a number of tourist destinations managed by the provincial government, such as the National Monument (Monas), Ragunan Zoo, and Ancol. He guaranteed that everyone in Jakarta could enjoy these facilities.

“And we will treat everyone the same, entry to Monas, Ragunan, Ancol, and so on will also be free,” he said.

He noted that a similar policy during Jakarta’s 499th anniversary last June received a positive response. He said the number of public transport users and visitors to tourist attractions increased sharply on 22, 27, and 28 June.

Pramono cited the example of Ragunan Zoo, where the number of visitors, usually around 103,000 to 105,000 people, soared to approximately 135,500 people. Meanwhile, the number of visitors to Ancol rose from a range of 35,000-40,000 people to around 80,000 people.

“So the public truly felt the benefit. Because the transport was free, entry to Ancol was free. But once inside, you pay for things that aren’t free, like buying food. If you bring your own packed meal, please go ahead,” he said.
