Pramono Prepares Special LPDP Scholarship for Jakarta, When Will It Open?

The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to launch a special LPDP programme for Jakarta in 2027. The scholarship will be funded by the regional budget and opened to 100 students to study abroad. The programme will prioritise children of Betawi in Jakarta and employees in the environment of BUMD/Provincial Government. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the programme scheme is currently being refined together with the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) under the Ministry of Finance. According to him, intensive communication has been conducted several times to ensure the programme can run. “This week, there is also the City Hall team formulating how this LPDP can be implemented and there is already a way out. Indeed, Jakarta cannot do it alone,” Pramono said at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, quoted from Detikcom (20/4/2026). Pramono is confident the programme can run. He assesses that this programme will provide opportunities for Betawi children to study abroad. The scholarship is mainly given to those from low-income families. Previously, he targeted the Jakarta LPDP scholarship programme to start running in 2027. “One of the things I really want to launch is to have a Jakarta LPDP. Can it be done? I am sure it can,” Pramono said in March.
