Pramono Prepares Dukuh Atas as a Six-Mode Transport Hub, Proposes City Check-In

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the Dukuh Atas area will become an integration point for six transport modes through the construction of a pedestrian deck, the launch of which was marked on Sunday (21/6). In addition to connecting various modes of transport, he also proposed that the area be equipped with city check-in facilities and immigration services. “Today we can all be present for the launch of the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck. Earlier, the MRT Director (Tuhiyat) mentioned that four modes would be connected, but in reality, it is not just four; six modes will be connected,” Pramono said during the launch event in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta. According to Pramono, the pedestrian deck will create an integrated transport system, or seamless mobility, allowing the public to switch modes more comfortably without being exposed to heat or rain. “This pedestrian deck, with six connected modes, will become seamless mobility. This means people will no longer suffer from the heat or rain,” he said. Pramono also proposed that the Dukuh Atas area eventually feature city check-in and immigration services integrated with the Airport Rail Link. He believes these facilities can ease public mobility to the airport while also boosting intermodal connectivity in the area. “Earlier, the Deputy Governor (Rano Karno) suggested that once completed, goods sold by MSMEs could be made duty-free. At the same time, I will request that the Jakarta Regional Apparatus Organisation (OPD) make this place a location for immigration and check-in services,” he said. “With this, I am confident the airport train will thrive and be more easily integrated overall,” he added. He also confirmed that the General Sudirman Statue will remain in its current location and will not be moved during the pedestrian deck construction process. “The General Sudirman Statue will stay in this place. We will not shift it so that it does not become a polemic, and this place will become better and more beautiful,” he said. For information, the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck will be built by PT MRT Jakarta starting in mid-2026 and is targeted for completion in 2028. The circular infrastructure, often nicknamed the ‘doughnut ring’, will serve as an integration node for several public transport services in the Dukuh Atas area. The area will eventually connect at least six transport modes: the KRL Commuter Line, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, Airport Rail Link, and TransJakarta. This project is also part of the Dukuh Atas Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area development, aimed at strengthening public transport connectivity while improving pedestrian comfort in central Jakarta. On the occasion, Pramono also expressed appreciation to the Japanese government through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Urban Renaissance for their involvement in preparing the project’s initial study. Pramono revealed that the pedestrian deck currently has no official name. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to hold an open competition to determine the area’s name. “To be honest, this pedestrian deck does not yet have a name, and we will hold an open competition to name it. Currently, some are calling it the ‘doughnut ring’ because its shape will resemble a doughnut, but of course, proposing the name doughnut ring would surely lose,” he said.
