Pramono Plans to Build International Cancer-Heart Hospital on Sumber Waras Land
Jakarta - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the legal issues surrounding the alleged corruption case involving the purchase of the Sumber Waras Hospital land have been resolved. Pramono even plans to develop Sumber Waras Hospital into an international hospital specializing in cancer and heart treatment.
Pramono made the remarks during his speech at the Grand Betawi Community Gathering at the MH Thamrin Museum in Central Jakarta on Sunday (2/15/2026).
Pramono began by saying he did not make many political promises during his campaign. He said he only promised to continue what was good from previous governors. When discussing the era of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama’s (Ahok) leadership, Pramono revealed his desire to develop Sumber Waras Hospital into an international facility.
“From Pak Ahok’s era, the Sumber Waras Hospital issue has been resolved, thank God. We will soon begin building an international hospital for cancer and heart treatment,” Pramono said in his speech.
Pramono said he has submitted a proposal to President Prabowo Subianto to designate the Sumber Waras Hospital development as a National Strategic Project (PSN). He hopes the proposal will be decided upon soon.
“I have submitted a proposal to President Prabowo Subianto for approval as a PSN, a National Strategic Project. It has already received support from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Hopefully, a decision will be made soon,” he said.
Nevertheless, Pramono said he would proceed with building Sumber Waras Hospital even if Prabowo has not yet approved the PSN designation. Pramono confirmed that the legal issues related to Sumber Waras Hospital have been fully resolved.
“Even if the decision hasn’t been made yet, I will still proceed with building Sumber Waras Hospital — the name will be decided later — but the legal issues have been resolved,” he said.
For context, the alleged corruption case involving the purchase of Sumber Waras Hospital land in West Jakarta first emerged during the administration of DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, or Ahok, in 2015. The case originated when the DKI Jakarta Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) submitted its 2014 DKI Provincial Government Financial Report.
Last year, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated it found no elements of unlawful conduct in the alleged corruption related to the Sumber Waras land purchase. “That is correct — the investigation into the case was terminated because no elements of unlawful conduct were found,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when contacted on Monday (10/27/2025).
Pramono visited the Sumber Waras Hospital land on Monday (10/27/2025). He explained that the KPK investigation into the land purchase has been completed. He said the DKI Provincial Government is ready to proceed with the hospital development plan on the 3.6-hectare site.
“The investigation was terminated in 2023 by the KPK. There was previously a finding that the taxable value was too high, with a discrepancy of Rp191 billion, but now the land value has risen to Rp1.4 trillion. So cancellation is no longer possible,” Pramono said.
