Pramono: PKK, Dasawisma, and Jumantik Play Key Role in Reducing Number of Slum Neighbourhoods in Jakarta
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the reduction in the number of slum neighbourhoods (RW) in Jakarta is inseparable from the role of women directly involved in the field, such as PKK cadres, Dasawisma, and Jumantik mosquito larvae monitors.
According to Pramono, the number of slum RW in Jakarta has decreased from 445 to 211.
He said that this achievement would not have been possible without the contributions of female cadres in community settings.
Pramono emphasised that women play a major role in Jakarta’s development, including within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
He noted that nearly half of the heads of Regional Device Organisations (OPD) in Jakarta are women. Moreover, several strategic positions are also led by women.
Looking ahead, Pramono said he will continue to open up the widest possible opportunities for women in Jakarta, including in government and other strategic sectors.
He hopes that women’s involvement in various fields will further strengthen gender equality in Jakarta.
Previously, Pramono mentioned that the number of slum RW in Jakarta has decreased.
In 2017, there were 445 slum RW recorded, and now it has dropped to 211.
“So, there has been a reduction in slum RW from 445 in 2017 to 211 this year. The decrease is approximately 52.58 percent,” said Pramono.
West Jakarta and North Jakarta are the areas with the highest number of slum RW.
