Pramono Pays Respects to Former Vice President Try Sutrisno: We Have Lost a Father of the Nation
Jakarta, VIVA – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung paid his respects at the home of the deceased Sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, in Menteng, Central Jakarta. Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto on Monday, 2 March 2026 in the morning.
Pramono expressed his sense of loss over Try Sutrisno’s passing. He described Sutrisno as a father figure of the nation.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. As someone who knew Pak Try Sutrisno closely for a long time, I certainly feel the loss. Because he was a father of the nation figure who embraced everyone,” Pramono told reporters.
Pramono revealed that he had known Try Sutrisno since 1995. According to Pramono, Try Sutrisno had dedicated his life to the nation and state.
“And we have all lost someone who, until the end of his life, dedicated himself to the nation and state. We have all undoubtedly lost Pak Try Sutrisno,” he said.
Pramono noted that Try Sutrisno’s health had deteriorated over recent days. However, he emphasised that Sutrisno’s spirit never wavered.
“Despite his age at nearly 90 years, his spirit never diminished. That, moreover, because he had a close personal relationship with Ibu Mega, I often discussed matters with the three of us,” explained Pramono.
It was previously reported that the Sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, General (Retired) Try Sutrisno, passed away at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026 at approximately 06:58 Western Indonesian Time.
“That is correct (former Vice President Try Sutrisno has passed away),” said the former head of RSPAD, Lieutenant General (Retired) Albertus Budi Sulistya, when contacted on Monday, 2 March 2026.
The body of the late Try Sutrisno is to be taken to the residence at Purwakarta Street Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
