Pramono Orders Strict Action Against 185 Padel Courts in Jakarta Lacking Building Permits
The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has ordered the enforcement of regulations against padel courts that have not obtained Building Approval Permits (PBG). There are approximately 185 padel courts in Jakarta that currently lack this permit.
“I have instructed the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), mayors, sub-district heads, and other relevant parties to take strict action against anyone who does not have a PBG. This is an absolute requirement,” said Pramono at the Jakarta Provincial Education Office, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
Pramono emphasized that possessing a PBG is mandatory for every construction project, including sports facilities. The enforcement is being carried out to ensure orderly spatial planning and compliance with applicable regulations.
According to him, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also paying special attention to land use, especially green spaces. He stressed that these areas should not be converted into padel courts.
“Thus, maintaining order in construction in Jakarta is also important, including ensuring that green spaces are not used for padel courts,” he said.
Previously, Pramono had requested that padel courts without PBGs be dismantled. The Head of the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (Citata), Vera Revina Sari, stated that 212 padel courts in Jakarta have PBGs.
“The rapid development of padel courts is remarkable. As of February 23, 2026, there are 212 padel courts that have obtained PBGs,” Vera told reporters on Wednesday (February 25).
Vera mentioned that there are 185 padel courts that do not have PBGs. Including those without PBGs, there are a total of 397 padel courts in Jakarta.
“And 185 padel courts do not have PBGs,” she said.
