Jakarta (ANTARA) — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has asked the Satpol PP (Civil Service Police Unit) and regional devices (OPD) to take firm action if they find QR matrix (data matrix) stickers related to online gambling (judol). “So I will ask the relevant OPDs and Satpol PP to conduct screening for that, and if it is true, then immediate action should be taken,” Pramono said when approached in South Jakarta on Friday. He stressed that the Jakarta Provincial Government fully supports the central government in eradicating online gambling. “Because judol is what makes many residents anywhere, including in Jakarta, who then become trapped in life,” he said. Previously, police arrested a suspected distributor of QR data-matrix stickers promoting online gambling (judol) and a scam network identified as SH alias P (38) in Petukangan Selatan, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta (Jaksel). “We conducted the development and managed to arrest the suspect, inisial SH alias P, on Tuesday (17/2) at around 22.28 WIB at his home, in Larangan, Kota Tangerang,” said Pesanggrahan Police Chief, Kompol Seala Syah Alam. A data matrix code is a two-dimensional barcode (2D) in square or rectangular form, consisting of black-and-white cell patterns, designed to store alphanumeric data (up to 2,335 characters) in a very small space. The code is very durable, readable even if damaged up to 30 percent and is commonly used to track components in industry, electronics, automotive and healthcare. Seala said the chronology began on Tuesday (10/2) at around 17.30 WIB and went viral on Instagram after CCTV footage was circulated. At the time, two perpetrators P and F distributed QR stickers at warteg (small eateries) and motorcycles across Jakarta, including at a cafe in Petukangan Selatan, Pesanggrahan. It turned out, after inspection, that the QR stickers connected to a judol site suspected of being a scam. After further investigation, the site was connected to a private virtual network/VPN from outside Indonesia. “Hence we coordinated with the Sat Reskrim of the Metro Jakarta Selatan police and also other units to develop further, because we know that judol is a priority at the attention of President Prabowo,” he said. After investigation, police managed to arrest perpetrator P on Tuesday (17/2), while F and A were on the wanted list (DPO).
