Pramono orders all traders to move into Kramat Jati Wholesale Market
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has requested that traders selling outside the Kramat Jati Wholesale Market in East Jakarta be moved into the market area, as their presence can disrupt road traffic.
“Coordination has been carried out with the Mayor and the President Director of Pasar Jaya. They have been asked to ensure that traders outside are brought inside, because they can disrupt traffic and make the road surface wet and slippery, endangering road users,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday.
The arrangement and regulation of the traders will be coordinated by East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin. He has also asked Pasar Jaya President Director Agus Himawan to help handle the issue.
He does not want a similar incident to recur and claim more victims. Previously, a student with the initials HH (18) died after being run over by a truck on Jalan Raya Bogor, in the Kramat Jati Wholesale Market area of East Jakarta, while on the way to school.
“Yes, there has been a traffic accident involving a student with the initials HH which resulted in a fatality at 06.00 WIB on Jalan Raya Bogor heading south, in front of Rumah Makan Kuring at the Kramat Jati Wholesale Market, East Jakarta,” said AKP Darwis Yunarta, Head of the Traffic Accident Unit at the East Jakarta Metro Police.
HH died after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident with a dump truck.
As a result of the accident, the victim suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. Officers then evacuated the victim to Bhayangkara TK I Pusdokkes Polri Hospital in East Jakarta for further examination.
