Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the construction and revitalisation of the pedestrian areas in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said district, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, are being carried out to improve urban layout. He said the conditions will be more comfortable once the revitalisation is complete.

“For Rasuna Said, this is indeed in the final stages for the pedestrian areas, especially since we realise there are problems. Because it’s impossible to build and then have no impact,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta DPRD on Monday (13/4/2026).

According to Pramono, the impacts of the construction, such as narrowed road space and minimal safe distances between pedestrians and vehicles, are unavoidable consequences. Nevertheless, the DKI Provincial Government promises to make arrangements to keep it safe for road users.

“Well, the effect is that we want to make Rasuna Said better. The effect is, as mentioned earlier, it must be regulated,” he said.

Pramono targets the pedestrian revitalisation project to be completed in the near future. He even prepared the inauguration of the area as part of the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations.

“Hopefully, the target is 22 June, I will inaugurate it as a gift for Jakarta, and it will become something new,” he said.

He hopes that the new face of the Rasuna Said area can eventually match other protocol corridors like Sudirman-Thamrin, which is now one of the icons of sidewalk revitalisation in the Capital.
