The Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) 2026, scheduled for 13-14 June, will attract 45,000 runners. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared free public transportation facilities for participants and organisers during the event.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this policy aims to facilitate participants’ mobility while minimising potential traffic congestion around the race venue. Runners simply need to show their participant number at transport entry points.

“All runners in Jakarta will be provided with free public transportation. Just show your BIB as proof of participation, for both runners and organisers,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

Pramono explained that the free facilities cover various modes of public transport in Jakarta, such as TransJakarta, MRT, and LRT. This way, participants no longer need to worry about parking or access to the start and finish points of the race.

“This is to improve accessibility, so runners can focus on the race and enjoy the atmosphere of Jakarta,” he said.

Pramono emphasised that the JAKIM event will have a broad economic impact. The presence of thousands of runners and tourists will drive growth in various sectors, including hospitality, culinary, transport, sports equipment retail, and local SMEs.

“This event will provide a significant multiplier effect. Hotels will be fully occupied, people will come from various regions, and SMEs will thrive,” he said.
