Pramono offers condolences after child falls into Tebet project hole

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has conveyed his condolences over the death of a four-year-old boy, identified by the initial I, after he fell into a hole at a multifunctional field construction project on Jalan Manggarai Utara, Tebet, South Jakarta. The child was trapped for approximately four hours in the early hours of Sunday (28/6) before being evacuated and pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. “The Jakarta Provincial Government is certainly grieving and feels the loss,” Pramono said when met in West Jakarta on Monday. Pramono explained that on Saturday (27/6) evening, the child had accompanied his mother selling tea in the Manggarai area until the early hours of Sunday. The child then went to play in an area that had been closed off because of a hole for casting work. “The project was initiated by the Jakarta Provincial Government for a park. It is a park space managed through CSR, but the child entered the area and subsequently died after being evacuated by the Fire and Rescue Service,” he explained. In the early hours of Sunday, Pramono immediately instructed his staff to provide assistance to the victim’s family. “We have been involved from the start, including my orders to the sub-district head, village head, and others to assist up to the burial,” Pramono said. He also indicated that the family is welcome to pursue legal action over the incident. “If the family wishes to file a lawsuit, we welcome it because this incident was truly unexpected,” Pramono stated.
