Pramono Mourns Loss of Try Sutrisno: A Father of the Nation Who Embraced All
Wakil Presiden RI ke-6 Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Subroto Hospital in Central Jakarta this morning. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his grief over the loss of Try Sutrisno, known for his embrace of all people.
“Inna lilahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. As someone who knew Pak Try Sutrisno closely for a long time, I certainly feel a profound loss, because he was a father of the nation who embraced all people,” said Pramono at the house of mourning in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday (2/3/2026).
Pramono has known Try Sutrisno since 1995. In Pramono’s view, Try was known as a man who dedicated his life to the nation and upheld the values of Pancasila and the Constitution firmly.
“I have known him since around 1995, so I have known him for quite a long time. We have all lost someone who dedicated his life to the nation and state until his final breath. We will all miss Pak Try Sutrisno,” he said.
Pramono revealed that he last met Try Sutrisno approximately five or six months ago when he was still active at BPIP, an institution that he always prioritised constitutional and Pancasila matters.
Some time ago, Pramono visited Try Sutrisno at his residence. Although his health had declined, according to Pramono, Try Sutrisno’s spirit never faltered.
“I also visited him at his home. His condition has indeed deteriorated recently, but his spirit never diminished. Even at nearly 90 years of age, his spirit remained strong. That is what… Especially since he had a close personal relationship with Ibu Mega. I often discussed matters with the three of us,” he added.
Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Subroto Hospital at the age of 90. According to information received, Try Sutrisno died at 06:58 WIB today. His body will be brought to his residence on Jalan Purwakarta, Menteng, Central Jakarta, and will be buried at the Taman Makam Pahlawan Nasional Utama (TMPNU) Kalibata Cemetery in South Jakarta.
