JAKARTA – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has emphasised that the work-from-home (WFH) policy for one day per week will not be implemented on Wednesdays, as the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to uphold the “Wednesday Public Transport” programme.

“In that case, once it is decided by the central government, I will decide on a day other than Wednesday. Because Wednesday remains for public transport,” Pramono stated when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building in Central Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

Pramono stressed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is still awaiting an official decision from the central government regarding the implementation of WFH one day per week for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers.

Pramono explained that the reason Wednesday is not chosen is because it coincides with the “Wednesday Public Transport” policy in DKI Jakarta.

Under this policy, ASN and Individual Service Providers (PJLP) are required to use public transport for commuting to and from work, including during official duties.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the WFH policy for ASN and private sector workers would be established in March 2026.

“It will definitely be set this month,” Airlangga said after a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026).

However, Airlangga did not disclose the exact implementation date for the policy.

“This month has only a few days left, so there is still time,” he remarked.

The one-day-per-week WFH policy for ASN and private sector workers is said to have been approved by the ministers and now awaits instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.
