Pramono Launches Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck, Integrating Six Transport Modes

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has launched the construction of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta, as part of the 499th anniversary celebrations of the city. The infrastructure, targeted for completion by the end of 2028, will strengthen the integration of six transport modes: the Jakarta MRT, Jabodebek LRT, KRL Commuter Line, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link, Transjakarta, and the Jakarta LRT. The pedestrian deck will provide a more seamless journey while reducing the distance and travel time for users. “Jakarta is now the city with the second-best public transport system in Southeast Asia. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to continuously improving service quality and intermodal connectivity so that more people switch to using public transport,” Pramono said. In addition to being a connecting bridge, the pedestrian deck will shape a new, more modern, pedestrian-friendly, and integrated face for the Sudirman–Dukuh Atas area. The infrastructure is also designed to be safely and comfortably accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities. “Its presence will enhance connectivity, safety, and comfort for pedestrians, while strengthening the integration between public transport modes,” he stated. Pramono expressed hope that the construction would also enliven public spaces and encourage economic activity around the Dukuh Atas area. During the construction period, the project has the potential to create jobs. Once operational, the improved connectivity is expected to increase the area’s attractiveness for businesses and investors. The construction of the Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck also opens up opportunities for implementing creative financing schemes through collaboration with the banking sector, Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and various stakeholders. This approach allows city infrastructure development to not rely solely on the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). According to Pramono, a collaborative pattern is necessary to accelerate sustainable infrastructure development while maintaining public trust. “I hope this construction can proceed on time while prioritising aspects of safety, accessibility, and user comfort,” Pramono said.
