Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has emphasised that the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU) facilities will only be revoked for students who are involved in misconduct, including bullying and street brawls. “It (KJP and KJMU) will only be revoked if the student has a problem. Whether it is brawling, bullying, and so on,” Pramono stated at City Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday. He said that to date, the number of KJP and KJMU recipients remains unchanged. He also expressed his reluctance to see the number of KJP and KJMU recipients decrease, as education is a crucial element in addressing the capital’s Gini ratio. Pramono believes that higher education can break the cycle of disadvantage within a family. He further announced that starting next year, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will collaborate with the central government’s Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) to run a special Jakarta LPDP programme. This initiative aims to enable Jakarta’s children to experience education abroad and then return to Indonesia to contribute to the development of the capital. “Thus, matters related to education remain a priority that we uphold,” Pramono asserted.
