Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Jakarta International Marathon (Jakim) 2026 has delivered a significant economic boost to the capital, with the event’s economic multiplier effect exceeding Rp 255 billion. “The multiplier effect of yesterday’s Jakim was more than Rp 255 billion, significantly impacting the economy,” Pramono said at City Hall on Wednesday (24/6/2026).

Despite the economic success, the Jakarta Provincial Government is conducting a thorough evaluation of the event following the death of a participant. “It is true that one person died, suspected of having a heart attack and then suffering dehydration,” he said.

Pramono emphasised that healthcare services will be a key focus for improvement. The provincial government plans to enhance medical treatment systems and the availability of health services for future events. He noted that the 2026 Jakim was already supported by adequate medical facilities, with ambulances, doctors, and nurses stationed along the race route. “Compared to other running events handled by the Jakarta Provincial Government, the deployment of ambulances, doctors, nurses, and so on was very sufficient,” he said.

Acknowledging that risks are inherent in large-scale sporting events, Pramono stressed that a comprehensive evaluation would be carried out. “But this is an incident. We will certainly improve on this,” he concluded.
