The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov Jakarta) is implementing a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) one day per week, specifically on Fridays. Governor Pramono Anung stated that this policy follows an official decision from the central government. According to him, Pemprov Jakarta will certainly conduct supervision to ensure the policy runs effectively, particularly in reducing energy use. “Since this is a government decision, the DKI Jakarta Government will follow it and we will set guidelines,” he said on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Pramono reminded ASN undertaking WFH to properly follow the instructions given, rather than going out unnecessarily. To anticipate any ASN travelling during WFH, Pemprov Jakarta will not allow them to use private vehicles during working hours. This is because such actions would undermine the policy’s impact on energy savings. “This includes prohibiting the use of private vehicles during work-from-home periods, so they truly use public transport. Why? All Jakarta ASN have free access to it. And that will be our benchmark,” he said. He added that his side will still monitor ASN on WFH. Thus, the policy will run effectively. “Later, the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) will regulate that,” he said. It is known that the technical arrangements for WFH are currently being prepared by the Jakarta BKD and will be stipulated in a Governor’s Regulation. This policy is planned to apply under a scheme of 25-50 percent of employees working from home, adjusted to the needs of each regional apparatus. Pemprov DKI is also preparing strict sanctions for employees who violate or misuse the policy.
